The name REDHAWK pays homage to the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk used by World War II Tuskegee Airmen fighter aircraft unit, the Tuskegee Airmen. The first production aircraft will be delivered to Air Education and Training Command by spring 2022 and 72 more will follow over 10 years; replacing Air Force T-38C Talon aircraft that are due for retirement by 2025.
