According to a federal judge’s ruling, poker is more of a game of skill than chance and should not be prosecuted under the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). His decision was supported by arguments from a defense expert who demonstrated how it’s impossible for someone without skill or strategy to win at casinos.

However, some will argue that even though the game of skill involves risk, casino gambling remains a gamble as losses may occur due to mathematical variance in the short term – although this should only happen rarely over the longer term.

Some claim that poker does not qualify as a sport because it doesn’t require much physical exertion; however, this argument can be countered with many sports requiring extreme exertion such as marathon running and triathlons. Furthermore, participating in any form of physical activity provides social interaction, health benefits and sense of achievement; most sports are also played on large public spaces, making participation accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
